You may be wondering, what is a Clequinox and when is it coming? A clequinox is defined in the Cleveland Vibes dictionary as:
“the seasonal overlap of the three major sports teams in Cleveland. Specifically, when the Guardians, Browns, and Cavaliers all have games at the same time.”
The pre-Clequinox occurred on October 5th when the Browns and Guardians were in the midst of their regular seasons and the Cavaliers started their preseason. The Cavs being in their preseason only technically constitutes a pre-Clequinox, although this is more about the general overlap concept.
A full Clequinox can be established on October 23rd when the Cavaliers begin their regular season, the Browns play week 7 against the Ravens, and the Guardians would hopefully be participating in the American League Conference Series (ALCS). For this to happen, the Guardians need to defeat the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series (ALDS). The Guardians are currently trailing the series 0 games to 1, but are still very much alive.
As stated above, the fact that Guardians have made the post-season, the Browns are keeping afloat without Deshaun Watson, and the Cavs look primed for a promising campaign, is reason for optimism. Let’s face it, Cleveland sports has had some recent lean years, 2016 aside. Each major Cleveland team have strong cores of young, talented players which should lead to lots more Clequinoxes in the future.
We at Cleveland Vibes believe that Cleveland is a city on the rise. The sports franchises are a part of that rise, but not the whole picture. The people of Cleveland are the driving force as we look to thrive in 2022 and beyond. Are you looking to rep the best of Cleveland? Check out our shop and show off ‘The Land’ all year long.
