Five Dependably Delicious Cleveland Dishes

This should go without saying, but these opinions are strictly my own and they are correct. These meals I’m about to delight you with are my ride-or-dies – my faithful and dependable companions on this journey we call life. As one who is constantly seeking to add to my arsenal, I want to hear about your own favorite dishes in Cleveland and surrounding areas. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

  1. First up, we have the subject of the “steam bun challenge” as seen on TikTok and YouTube. To win the challenge, you will have to consume 24 steam buns at Ninja City in less than an hour. They’re small but surprisingly filling, so good luck becoming the next Joey Chesnut/ Steam Bun. The BBQ pulled pork steam buns are absolutely delicious, but you can also get them with wok-seared chicken, tofu, steak or shrimp.

  2. Next is il Rione’s pepperoni pizza drizzled with pesto on top (you will have to request the pesto). Il Rione is indisputably one of the best pizza spots in Cleveland, so you really can’t go wrong with any of their offerings. The Diavolo Pie is also phenomenal.

    Pizza Perfection

  3. Town Hall’s grilled cheese and tomato soup. Now listen, admittedly that this might not be one of Cleveland’s culinary marvels, but hear me out: the tomato soup is perfection. The sweetness of the tomatoes paired with the tartness of the goat cheese on top is a mouth-watering combination. The thick texture of the soup and of course, the grilled cheese, makes it a surprisingly hearty meal. Try it next time you’re sick (get the bone broth too!) and thank me later.
  4. If you are a bagel fiend like myself, Cleveland Bagel is probably already at the top of your list. The rosemary bagel with brie honey walnut schmear and the everything bagel with cheddar chive schmear are two of my favorite combos. Their bagels are simply unmatched. And if you’re a New York bagel elitist, do us a favor and hold onto your opinion until you’ve tried one.

    Clearly My Happiest Place

  5. Herb’n Twine’s Smoked Turkey Club is a perfect sandwich. Their freshly-baked bread is never soggy and the bacon and spinach adds a satisfying crunch which means you never have to add chips to your sandwich (if you’re a texture nut like myself). The nutty gouda pairs perfectly with the tangy sun-dried tomato mayo taking this sandwich to the next level.

Now it’s your turn: what are your favorite meals in Cleveland that you always find yourself coming back to because they’re just that good?
