Cleveland, OH – On Monday, January 30, 2023, the Cleveland Charge, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb teamed up for an epic basketball showdown. The event was held at the King Kennedy Club (2561 E. 59th Street, Cleveland, OH 44104) and saw local youth hit the court for a free clinic led by Cavs Academy Coaches and volunteers.
But the real showstopper of the day was none other than Mayor Bibb himself, who took a break from his mayoral duties to show off his skills on the court. And let us tell you, the man can shoot! He even took time to teach the kids some of his secret moves while doing some drills. You can see his performance on our Instagram page.
At the end of the clinic, Charge players and the ever-energetic Pozzie arrived to sign autographs, shoot hoops, and take photos with the kids. And as if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, Georgio’s Pizza made sure everyone’s stomachs were full with a delicious meal for all participants.
The real highlight of the day was the gift bag that each child received from the Cleveland Charge. These bags included promotional items and a voucher for four free tickets to the highly anticipated “Bibblehead Night” at the Wolstein Center on Saturday, March 11th at 7:00pm. This evening is dedicated to celebrating the release of Mayor Justin Bibb’s “Bibblehead”.
When asked about the event, Mayor Bibb expressed his surprise and gratitude, “I was shocked and surprised, but the fact that we get to use the proceeds from the game to invest in the Boys and Girls Club is truly amazing. They do so much to keep our kids safe and give them a future. As Mayor, I wanted to do everything I could to give them this opportunity.”
