“Mayor Bibb Gets in the Reading Spirit at Clark Elementary – and Drops Some Major ARPA Cash while He’s at it!
Hey Cleveland, are you ready to get your reading on? Because Mayor Justin M. Bibb is leading by example and kicked off the citywide Cleveland READS campaign in the most adorable way possible – by visiting Clark Elementary School and reading to a group of second graders.
But that’s not all, folks. After the reading session, the Mayor shared some exciting news about proposed investments in education and literacy thanks to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). That’s right, Cleveland is looking at a whopping $40 million in funding, with $17 million specifically earmarked for education initiatives.
These investments will not only help our schools and students recover from the pandemic, but they’ll also create a brighter future for Cleveland’s children. Think high-dosage literacy tutoring, safe and healthy learning environments, and more opportunities for Clevelanders to gain the skills and credentials they need for college or a career.
And the best part? These initiatives were developed with input from school district and community leaders, so they’re truly tailored to the needs of our city. So let’s all get reading, Cleveland – and let’s make sure our kids have the resources they need to succeed. ”
