Cleveland’s Wonder Women: The Boss Ladies Taking Over the Midwest

Cleveland, Ohio is home to many accomplished and talented women who are making a significant impact in their respective fields and communities. Among them are:

Allie Carr (@alliecarr_realtor), a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in Cleveland, who is dedicated to helping her clients find their dream homes. Allie is known for her exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and expertise in the local real estate market. Allie is consistently named a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty Top 3 Agent and a mentor within her brokerage of 600 agents.Jackie Wachter (@FOUNT), @fountjackie )  Alongside her husband Phillip, Creative Director  Jackie Wachter gave us FOUNT, a Cleveland-based leather goods company that is committed to sustainable and ethically-made products. Jackie’s company has made a name for itself in the fashion industry for its high-quality leather goods that are both stylish and eco-friendly. FOUNT has 3 locations, one at Pinecrest, one at Crocker Park, andtheir newest location is in Lexington, KY and they are only just getting started.

Anne Harrill (@oceannejewelery), the owner of Océanne Studio and Boutique, a Cleveland-based jewelry and fashion boutique that features unique and handcrafted items. Anne’s boutique is a destination for fashion lovers looking for one-of-a-kind pieces that are made with curated with style and attention to detail and quality.  Her award winning jewelry shop has two locations, one in Gordon Square and one in Pinecrest. In addition to her booming local success, her jewelry is featured in small boutiques all over the country.

Chef Jill Vedaa (@jmvedaa), a well-known chef, restaurateur, and owner of now many  successful restaurants in Cleveland (@saltcleveland, @evelynrestaurant @poppyrestaurantcle) Jill’s restaurants are known for their unique culinary skills, flavors, and the use of locally-sourced ingredients. According to Tastemade, Jill has been ranked as one of Cleveland’s top 3 chefs by Cleveland Magazine and received a nomination for Best Chef: Great Lake Region by the James Beard Foundation.

Candy Mashmoor (@yayaandco), the founder of YaYa & Co., a Cleveland-based ecommerce start-up that specializes in all-natural and organic textiles such as bedding, home goods, and decor from artisans and makers from all over the world. YaYa & Co. is Fair Trade USA certified and is known for its sustainable goods, ethical practices.  Candy’s foundation she established in India is a school for women that employs them and pays fair wages. Additionally,  YaYa & Co. plants trees for every order placed on their site.

Camille Genise (@felohapp), the founder of FELOH,  a Cleveland-based beauty app that connects Black women with brands for natural hairstyles. The FELOH app, has gained massive popularity over the last few years. It’s both a social marketplace and a destination for Black women looking for advice, inspiration, and products as they transition from chemically straightened hair to natural hair styles. She also started Tastemakers, a nonprofit organization building community for BIPOC & Afro-American innovators and creatives in Cleveland. Their ultimate goal is to repatriate and retain talent in Cleveland to foster economic prosperity and transform Cleveland for generations to come.

Erin Frazee (@heydaycollective), a co-founder of Heyday Collective, a luxury salon experience that offers studio, station, and salon leasing opportunities for independent artists. The business is designed to celebrate the creativity and drive of these artists by providing them with a luxury environment that prioritizes both their own wellness and prosperity, as well as the guest experience. The Heyday Collective locations are bright, spacious and professionally designed to create a consistent luxury experience. Now Erin and her husband, Tim have set their sights on bringing a unique co-working experience for salon professionals, The Nest to Lakewood in 2023.

Rebecca Maxwell (@two.one.thrift), the founder of Two One Thrift, a Cleveland-based repurposed clothing company that screen prints thrifted items, adding her own flare to sports fashion and offering a customized, sustainable game day wear. Rebecca uses her skills for dressing and teaches female sports fans all over the country how to style their game day wear through her viral Tik Toks.

Callie Whyad (@calliespilates), the owner of Callie’s Pilates, a Cleveland-based fitness studio that offers a variety of Pilates classes for all levels. Callie’s Pilates opened in Cleveland November 2018 in The Metropolitan at The 9 Hotel. Callie did her training in Scottsdale, AZ and 5 years of teaching with continuing education in Orange County, CA. She teaches a contemporary style of Pilates, a hard, full body workout that focuses on form and the precision of movement to make sure each intricate muscle gets to shine.

Emily Harpel (@artofsucre) the owner of Art of Sucre, an e-commerce shop that specializes in gourmet cotton candy. The company features new innovations for cotton candy such as edible glitter and glitter bombs (glitter cotton candy dissolved in champagne), made famous on Tik Tok in 2020 when Emily re-imagined Art of Sucre into an E-Commerce powerhouse that now offers 9 different unique cotton candy flavors like Champagne with Popping Candy, Peach Bellini, and Strawberry bubble Gum!

 

 

These women are just a few examples of the many talented and accomplished individuals making a difference in Cleveland, Ohio. Whether in business, community service, or in their own homes we appreciate the way they shine in the spaces they occupy!
