Introducing the City of Cleveland’s new Urban Forestry Commission, or as we like to call it, the “Tree-mendous Commission”!
Are you tired of seeing Cleveland’s tree canopy disappear before your very eyes? Well, have no fear because the UFC is here! This group of tree-hugging heroes will be in charge of developing and recommending policy, working with city departments, and monitoring implementation to maintain and grow Cleveland’s tree population.
But wait, there’s more! Not only will this commission save the trees, but they’ll also help with air pollution, heat islands, and climate change. Talk about a win-win!
The inaugural meeting of the UFC will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. in room 514. Remote participation will also be available for those who prefer to attend virtually.
So mark your calendars, Clevelanders! It’s time to get our green on and bring back the “Forest City” moniker we once held dear.
In the words of the great Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” (Or in this case, the more trees you save, the better Cleveland will grow!)
