What is it: Sushi restaurant recently opened in Crocker Park, near Bonefish Grill
WHY WE LOVE IT:
Sustainably sourced – Flagship Restaurant Group is commited to respecting the ecosystem by responsibly sourcing their seafood. They avoid using fish that have been overcaught or farmed in ways that harm marine life or the environment, instead only using fish on their menu that are either caught or farmed with sustainable practices.
Vegan Menu – We get a lot of questions about vegan restaurants in the GCA so we are excited to share that this is a fantastic choice for our vegan friends or meatless Monday observers. Here’s the link to a list of twelve vegan sushi rolls you’re going to want to try. We were recommended the Cowgirl roll, which somehow tasted like a hamburger? It was both strange and amazing and I definitely recommend it.
Non – Raw Menu – I was pregnant when we visited Blue Sushi Sake Grill, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were plenty of non-raw options for me at Blue. If you aren’t really into the raw-fish thing (see: my mom) or your body is housing a human child and raw is temporary off-limits, I have good news. Blue touts a huge variety of vegan + cooked fish sushi options, as well as plenty of appetizers – like the ceviche or crispy brussels sprouts that are sure to delight you.
Happy hour – I promise to never hear about a good happy hour special without sharing, and this place does not disappoint. Happy hour runs every day from 3:00-6:30 and on Sundays ALL DAY from 12:00-8:00 p.m. Sake bombs for everyone!
Blue Sushi Sake Grill is not technically authentic… but it’s also not really trying to be. If you’re looking for a non-traditional sushi experience, give it a shot + we can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy yourself. With an atmosphere that is fun and casual and sushi/maki that is creatively crafted and seriously tasty, how could you not?
